1 to World at ISL
Bring your own...
For our 1 to World programme, students are required to bring in a device which they own (commonly known as Bring Your Own Device).
The school offers a degree of choice, but in view of the learning and teaching tasks implicit in our curriculum and pedagogy, we have imposed certain specifications on the type of device. The most important of these is the requirement for the students to bring a laptop and not a tablet.
A "Bring Your Own" model has important advantages:
The specifications are necessary so that students can benefit from the advantages of 1 to 1 (for example, individual creative expression; global communication; personalised learning tasks; self-organisation; peer-assessment; team collaboration) while allowing teachers to set tasks which they can consistently explain, manage and assess.
As pedagogy at ISL, and technology in general, continue to develop we shall annually review the requirements.
